What it does
- Establishes a task force on airport driver training within 6 months of enactment, composed of representatives from airports, air carriers, labor, NTSB, FAA, and other stakeholders to develop recommendations for the Administrator.
- Directs the task force to develop recommendations for enhancing movement area driver training consistency, recurrent training requirements, certification standards, and technology adoption across part 139 airports, due within 1 year.
- Amends section 47115(j) of title 49, United States Code to authorize the Secretary to provide grants to airport sponsors for vehicle movement area technology and training systems projects in fiscal years 2027 through 2031.
- Establishes priority for grants to projects that reduce vehicle-involved surface events, improve situational awareness, can be customized to specific airfield conditions, or address cost or accessibility barriers to technology deployment.
