Geo POWER Act

What it does
- Establishes the Milestone-Based Geothermal Demonstration Program within 180 days of enactment to award innovative financing to geothermal projects in low-permeability and impermeable reservoirs.
- Requires the program to prioritize geothermal projects in regions with limited or no existing geothermal electricity generation, including on or near Indian land.
- Requires projects to have aggregate electricity generation capacity of at least 30 megawatts or advance innovative drilling technologies enabling commercial-scale geothermal generation of at least 30 megawatts.
- Mandates that the Secretary award financing to at least three different proposals in at least three different States from at least three different project sponsors.
