Digital Commodity Intermediaries Act

What it does
- Amends the Commodity Exchange Act to add definitions for associated persons of digital commodity brokers and dealers, including those soliciting or accepting orders for digital commodities.
- Establishes definitions for blockchain, blockchain applications, blockchain protocols, and blockchain systems to clarify regulatory terminology.
- Defines decentralized finance trading protocols as blockchain systems allowing multiple participants to execute financial transactions via automated, nondiscretionary rules without reliance on a third party for asset custody.
- Creates a registration framework for digital commodity exchanges, brokers, dealers, and associated persons under Commodity Futures Trading Commission jurisdiction.
- Requires futures commission merchants to use qualified digital asset custodians for customer digital commodity assets.
