Cooperative Watershed Management Program Reauthorization Act of 2026

What it does
- Amends the definition of 'Indian tribe' in the Cooperative Watershed Management Program to reference the Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act.
- Raises the maximum first-phase grant amount from $100,000 to $150,000 per year for a minimum of 3 years, subject to the sufficiency of applications and availability of appropriations.
- Expands grant eligibility criteria to include applicants that demonstrate significant need due to drought, wildfire, or other natural disaster.
- Authorizes the Secretary to extend the first-phase grant for not more than 2 additional years at $150,000 annually if the recipient demonstrates satisfactory performance.
- Requires the Secretary to make funding opportunities available on a regular basis and allow applications to be submitted and evaluated multiple times during a calendar year.
