Water Security and Drought Resilience Act

What it does
- Amends the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act to authorize the Secretary of the Interior to provide financial assistance for water storage projects across multiple Reclamation States.
- Expands the small storage program eligibility to include groundwater recharge projects with storage capacity between 200 and 150,000 acre-feet annually and extends the program authorization from 5 to 10 years.
- Authorizes $20,000,000 annually for fiscal years 2027 through 2033 for small storage projects under the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
- Establishes a grant program for natural water retention and release projects with Federal cost-share not to exceed 90 percent, authorized at $15,000,000 annually for fiscal years 2027 through 2031.
- Requires the Secretary of the Interior to distribute grants and financial assistance across multiple Reclamation States and specifies that Federal funds are nonreimbursable.
