Hydropower Licensing Transparency Act
Sponsor: Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV)
What it does
- Requires the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to submit an annual report to Congress within 180 days of enactment and every year thereafter on the status of ongoing hydropower relicensing applications.
- Directs the report to cover new licenses, subsequent licenses, and original licenses for which notice of intent was filed at least 3 years prior to the report submission date.
- Requires the FERC report to include the notice date, docket number, application filing status, anticipated issuance date, upcoming proceeding dates, and descriptions of required actions by all applicable agencies and applicants.
- Mandates disaggregation of reported information by license type: new licenses, subsequent licenses under section 15, and original licenses under section 4(e).
