Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Reauthorization Act

What it does
- Expands the definition of 'covered entity' under the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act to include nonprofit organizations with documented experience in swimming pool or spa safety and drowning prevention.
- Establishes a swimming pool safety grant program administered by the Consumer Product Safety Commission to provide assistance to eligible States, Indian Tribes, and nonprofit organizations.
- Requires grant recipients that are States or Indian Tribes to allocate at least 25 percent of grant funds to hire, train, and support personnel for implementation, enforcement, inspection, and repair or replacement of swimming pool and spa drain covers.
- Mandates that all grant recipients submit reports to the Commission within 90 days of project completion detailing grant amounts used, purposes accomplished, barriers encountered, and best practices.
- Requires the Commission to establish a Director of Drowning Prevention and dedicate more than one full-time equivalent to swimming pool and spa safety and drowning prevention activities.
