USMMA Athletics Act of 2026

What it does

• Authorizes the Secretary of Transportation to establish a nonprofit corporation in New York to support athletic programs at the United States Merchant Marine Academy.
• Permits the corporation to enter contracts and sole-source cooperative agreements to support USMMA athletic programs.
• Allows the Secretary to rent or lease USMMA real property to the corporation for up to five years if not required for immediate Academy use.
• Permits the corporation to enter licensing, marketing, and sponsorship agreements relating to USMMA trademarks, subject to Secretary approval.
• Authorizes the Secretary to accept funds from NCAA, athletic conferences, game guarantees, ticketing fees, and other sources to support USMMA athletic programs.
