Returning SBA to Main Street Act
Sponsor: Joni Ernst (R-IA)
What it does
- Requires the SBA Administrator to relocate at least 30 percent of headquarters employees to duty stations outside the Washington metropolitan area within one year of enactment.
- Mandates that relocated employees have their pay rates recalculated based on the pay locality of their new duty station and are no longer authorized to telework on a full-time basis.
- Directs the Administrator to consider geographic diversity and rural markets when determining new duty stations and to ensure adequate staffing throughout SBA regions to promote in-person customer service.
- Requires the Administrator to submit a report to Congress within 180 days detailing the number of headquarters employees, those eligible for relocation, the relocation plan, and employees subject to disability accommodations exceptions.
- Exempts headquarters employees with qualifying disabilities who receive full-time telework as a reasonable accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act from mandatory relocation.
