Outdoor Americans with Disabilities Act
Sponsor: Mike Lee (R-UT)
What it does
- Directs the Secretaries of Agriculture and Interior to prioritize updating travel management plans and motor vehicle use plans for public lands.
- Requires the Secretaries to account for the total length of traversable, approved roads in each square mile of public land and prioritize roads providing access to diverse recreational opportunities, including motorized and off-road vehicle use.
- Prohibits the Secretaries from closing roads on disability-accessible land unless the road was established within the prior year to address a temporary need or emergency, or poses a direct threat to health or safety with required notice and public hearing.
- Requires the Secretaries to consider opening roads on non-disability-accessible land that were closed during the 10-year period before enactment and to nominate and establish replacement roads within 1 year of any closure.
