Dennis John Benigno Traumatic Brain Injury Program Reauthorization Act of 2025
What it does
- Amends the Public Health Service Act to extend the authorization of appropriations for the Bill Pascrell Jr. National Program for Traumatic Brain Injury Surveillance and Registries through fiscal year 2030, previously set to expire after 2024.
- Requires the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to make publicly available aggregated information on traumatic brain injury and concussion, including data on populations at higher risk and tailored prevention strategies.
- Authorizes state grants for traumatic brain injury projects through fiscal year 2030 and allows the Secretary to waive up to 50 percent of matching fund requirements for states that demonstrate financial hardship.
- Directs the Secretary of Health and Human Services to submit a report within two years identifying populations at higher risk for traumatic brain injury, such as domestic violence survivors and public safety officers, and describing gaps in data collection and outreach efforts.
