Legacy Mine Cleanup Act of 2025

What it does
- Establishes within the EPA the Office of Mountains, Deserts, and Plains to coordinate cleanup actions at covered mine sites using existing EPA authorities.
- Requires the Administrator to annually identify and list covered mine sites prioritized for cleanup, and report to Congress on the methodology and status of cleanup actions.
- Directs the Office to establish and disseminate best practices for covered mine site cleanup, including innovative technologies, reuse approaches, and waste storage solutions.
- Requires the Administrator to coordinate with the Secretaries of Interior, Agriculture, and Energy, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, and other federal agencies on interagency cleanup plans for uranium contamination on Navajo Nation lands.
