VSAFE Act of 2025

What it does
- Establishes a Veterans Scam and Fraud Evasion Officer within the Department of Veterans Affairs to coordinate fraud prevention, reporting, and incident response plans.
- Directs the Veterans Scam and Fraud Evasion Officer to provide communication to Department employees and veterans during fraud and scam incidents and establish guidance on identifying and reporting scams.
- Requires the Veterans Scam and Fraud Evasion Officer to promote the VSAFE Fraud Hotline and VSAFE.gov website and develop methods to monitor fraud metrics for internal and external reporting.
- Directs the Veterans Scam and Fraud Evasion Officer to coordinate with the Inspector General, IRS, Department of Justice, Social Security Administration, and other federal agencies to improve fraud prevention and identify reporting avenues for veterans.
- Extends the sunset date for certain limitations on payments of pension under section 5503(d)(7) of title 38 from November 30, 2031 to January 30, 2032.
