Restoring Truth and Sanity to American History Act

What it does
- Directs the Vice President, in consultation with White House staff, to work through the Board of Regents of the Smithsonian Institution to remove content that violates the bill's policy or divides Americans based on race.
- Requires future Smithsonian appropriations to prohibit expenditures on exhibits or programs that degrade shared American values, divide Americans based on race, or promote ideologies inconsistent with federal law or civil rights laws.
- Directs the Vice President to work with congressional leadership to seek appointment of Board of Regents members committed to advancing the bill's policies.
- Directs the Secretary of the Interior to provide funding to improve Independence National Historical Park infrastructure, with completion targeted by July 4, 2026.
- Requires the Secretary of the Interior to review whether monuments, memorials, statues, or markers under the department's jurisdiction have been removed or altered since January 1, 2020 to perpetuate false history or divide Americans based on race, and to reinstate or modify them as appropriate.
