Young Fishermen’s Development Program Reauthorization Act

What it does
- Expands the Young Fishermen's Development Program to include training in crew management, disaster preparedness, seafood handling, technical assistance, fishing portfolio diversification, and waterfront infrastructure management.
- Extends the authorization of the Young Fishermen's Development Act from fiscal years 2022-2026 to fiscal years 2026-2031.
- Requires the Secretary of Commerce, acting through the National Sea Grant Office, to track career progression of program participants, identify those who enter or remain in U.S. commercial fisheries or related industries, and use these outcomes to evaluate program effectiveness and future grant eligibility.
