Reducing Waste in National Parks Act

What it does
- Directs the National Park Service Director to establish a program within 180 days to reduce disposable plastic products in all National Park System units.
- Requires regional directors to eliminate the sale of water in disposable plastic bottles and other disposable plastic products to the greatest extent feasible, considering costs, waste reduction, refill infrastructure, concessioner contracts, and visitor safety.
- Requires each regional director to develop a proactive visitor education strategy explaining the program's rationale and water availability.
- Mandates biennial evaluation of the program by regional directors, including assessment of public response, visitor satisfaction with water availability, buying behavior, public safety, and plastic bottle collection rates.
