Mathematical and Statistical Modeling Education Act

What it does
- Directs the National Science Foundation to award competitive, merit-reviewed grants to institutions of higher education and nonprofit organizations for research and development on mathematical and statistical modeling education in schools.
- Requires applicants to describe target populations including student subgroups underrepresented in STEM, students experiencing homelessness, and children in foster care.
- Encourages partnerships between nonprofit organizations or higher education institutions with expertise in mathematical modeling, local educational agencies or Tribal educational agencies, and practitioners in research and industry.
- Requires grant applications to include plans for sustained partnerships that draw from partner capacities and address critical transitions from middle school to high school, high school to college, and school to internships and jobs.
