BUSES Act

What it does
- Amends the Clean Air Act to prohibit states and political subdivisions from including or enforcing engine idling restrictions applicable to over-the-road buses or school buses for idling periods of less than 15 minutes.
- Prohibits private citizens from filing civil actions against owners or operators of over-the-road buses or school buses for alleged violations of engine idling restrictions.
- Prohibits states and political subdivisions from implementing or maintaining programs that provide monetary compensation to private individuals for reporting or enforcement of engine idling violations for buses.
- Requires termination of any existing bounty-based engine idling enforcement programs for buses not later than 180 days after enactment.
