Locating Our Unclaimed Veterans Act

What it does
- Directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to establish a centralized system to store information on unclaimed remains of veterans, including data transmitted from coroners, state governments, and funeral homes.
- Requires the centralized system to include veteran name, fingerprints, estimated age at death, and other identifiers the Secretary deems necessary to confirm veteran status and identify next-of-kin.
- Authorizes the Secretary to request relevant information from the Social Security Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Department of Defense through existing or new memoranda of understanding to identify unclaimed remains.
- Requires the Secretary to submit annual reports to Congress for three years on system implementation, outreach activities, and the number of unclaimed remains successfully identified.
- Terminates the system on the last day of the third fiscal year after enactment.
