Aquatic Invasive Species Control and Prevention Act of 2026

What it does
- Establishes a grant program for research, development, demonstration, and verification of environmentally sound and cost-effective technologies and methods to control and eradicate aquatic invasive species, with awards made through competitive peer-reviewed merit-based processes.
- Directs the Task Force, in consultation with regional panels, to submit to Congress within three years a report on the grant program including findings and recommendations regarding technologies and practices for controlling aquatic invasive species.
- Directs the Task Force to conduct a comprehensive study within two years of Federal laws and regulations governing rapid response activities to aquatic invasive species and recommend changes to expedite such activities.
- Adds one representative from each regional panel to the Aquatic Nuisance Species Task Force and includes nongovernmental organizations engaged in monitoring or control of aquatic nuisance species in Task Force consultation.
- Requires the Task Force to develop a plan to enhance coordination with the National Invasive Species Council established by Executive Order 13112.
