Geo POWER Act

What it does
- Establishes the Milestone-Based Geothermal Demonstration Program within the Department of Energy to award innovative financing to geothermal projects in low-permeability and impermeable reservoirs within 180 days of enactment.
- Directs the Secretary to prioritize geothermal projects in regions with limited or no existing geothermal electricity generation, including projects on or near Indian land, and projects with capacity potential of at least 30 megawatts.
- Requires the Secretary to award innovative financing to at least 3 different proposals in at least 3 different States and to at least 3 different project sponsors.
- Authorizes the Secretary to maintain staffing levels sufficient to administer the innovative financing program and to implement milestone-based demonstration projects under section 9005 of the Energy Act of 2020.
