USA 6G Global Leadership Act

What it does
- Designates the Ambassador at Large for Cyberspace and Digital Policy to lead and coordinate United States diplomatic efforts ahead of the International Telecommunications Union Plenipotentiary Conference in 2026 and the World Radiocommunication Conference 2027.
- Requires the Ambassador to coordinate across the State Department, Commerce Department, and other federal agencies to promote candidates for ITU leadership positions that support United States economic and security objectives.
- Requires the Ambassador to provide quarterly briefings to Congress on developments leading up to the ITU elections and World Radiocommunication Conference 2027.
- Requires the State Department to submit a report within 90 days analyzing efforts by China and Russia to leverage international forums to constrain digital freedom and expand ITU mandate into internet governance.
- Directs the State Department to coordinate with the International Development Finance Corporation and the United States Trade and Development Agency on projects that promote trusted-vendor telecommunications infrastructure in developing countries.
