Duplication Scoring Act of 2026

What it does
- Requires the Comptroller General to analyze each reported bill or joint resolution to identify whether it creates a risk of duplicating or overlapping existing Federal programs, offices, or initiatives previously flagged in GAO duplication reports.
- Directs the Comptroller General to identify the name of any new duplicative program, the bill section establishing it, and the relevant GAO report, then submit findings to the Congressional Budget Office Director and the reporting committee.
- Requires the Comptroller General to publish duplication analyses on the GAO website and permits the Congressional Budget Office Director to include the findings as a supplement to cost estimates submitted to Congress.
- Takes effect on the earlier of 60 days after the Office of Management and Budget next updates its website or the start of a new Congress one year after enactment.
