Vets CLEAR Act

What it does
- Amends 38 U.S.C. § 1729A to permit the Department of Veterans Affairs to deposit recovered funds from federal debt-collection statutes (31 U.S.C. §§ 3711, 3729-3733) into the Medical Care Collections Fund when recovery is based on medical care or services.
- Amends 38 U.S.C. § 1729A to permit the Department of Veterans Affairs to deposit amounts recovered through administrative, legal, or judicial processes, including investigations and audits, into the Medical Care Collections Fund when recovery is based on medical care or services.
- Permits the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to deposit reimbursements for costs of care provided under 38 U.S.C. §§ 1781 and 8111 into the Medical Care Collections Fund at the Secretary's discretion, with this authority expiring on September 30, 2028.
- Requires the Comptroller General to report to the Senate and House Veterans' Affairs Committees every 180 days on amounts deposited into the Medical Care Collections Fund, including total recovered funds disaggregated by source and a description of how the Department expended such funds.
