STOP Nitazenes Act

What it does

• Amends the Controlled Substances Act to permanently schedule 2-benzylbenzimidazole opioids (nitazenes) as Schedule I controlled substances, including specified compounds such as etonitazene and clonitazene.
• Deems any nitazene substance previously temporarily scheduled under emergency authority to be permanently scheduled as of the date of enactment.
• Directs the Attorney General to issue implementing rules within one year of enactment, with authority to issue interim final rules that become effective immediately without demonstrating good cause.
