Nitrous Oxide Safety Act of 2026

What it does

• Bans the sale of consumer products containing nitrous oxide 180 days after enactment, unless used in medical, dental, food manufacturing, or research settings.
• Exempts medical and dental treatments administered by licensed professionals from the nitrous oxide ban.
• Exempts commercial food production and food propellants from the nitrous oxide consumer product ban.
• Exempts research and development activities by accredited institutions, businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies from the nitrous oxide ban.
