Veteran DATA Act

What it does
- Prohibits the Secretary of Veterans Affairs from entering into a contract that permits the contractor to sell or disclose sensitive personal information to another entity.
- Requires the Secretary to ensure each covered contract includes a clause prohibiting covered information from being monetized, sold, or misused by contractors, subcontractors, affiliates, or other non-VA entities.
- Directs the Secretary to issue guidance to VA employees and contractors on identifying monetization, sale, or misuse of covered information in order to ensure contractor compliance.
- Requires the Secretary to submit a report to Congress one year after enactment detailing the required contract clause, issued guidance, and other actions taken to comply.
