BEACON Act of 2026

What it does

Directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to establish a TBI Innovation Grant Program awarding grants up to $5,000,000 per fiscal year to eligible entities for development and evaluation of neurorehabilitation treatments for chronic mild traumatic brain injury in veterans.
Authorizes $30,000,000 for fiscal years 2026 through 2028 for a pilot grant program focused on prospective randomized control trials for traumatic brain injury treatments, with funds remaining available until expended.
Requires the Secretary to establish a research grant program awarding four exploratory grants of up to $625,000 and five collaborative grants of up to $1,500,000 annually for independent third-party studies on traumatic brain injury treatments in veterans.
Directs the Secretary to prescribe regulations implementing the grant program within 180 days of enactment and to conduct annual evaluations of program efficacy during a 3-year authority period.
