Veterans Readiness and Employment Improvement and Accountability Act

What it does
- Bars veterans convicted of assaulting or resisting a Department of Veterans Affairs officer from benefits under chapters 30, 31, 33, 35, and 36 for convictions occurring on or after enactment.
- Extends vocational rehabilitation eligibility for veterans who do not secure employment in their trained occupation within one year after training ends.
- Requires Secretary of Veterans Affairs approval for vocational rehabilitation equipment purchases exceeding $5,000.
- Caps federal funds for a single veteran's rehabilitation program at $250,000, adjusted annually beginning October 1, 2026, by the same percentage as education benefit increases.
- Requires the Secretary to employ an employment counselor at each regional office of the Department to the extent practicable.
