RESET Act

What it does
- Prohibits covered platforms from allowing individuals under age 16 to create or maintain an account or profile, effective 1 year after enactment.
- Requires covered platforms to identify existing minor accounts within 60 days of enactment, notify users within 180 days, and terminate those accounts within 30 days of notification.
- Requires covered platforms to immediately delete all personal data of terminated minor users, with a 90-day window for users to request their data in readable and machine-readable format.
- Empowers the Federal Trade Commission to enforce violations as unfair or deceptive practices under the FTC Act, and permits state attorneys general to bring civil actions for damages and injunctive relief.
