Myakka Wild and Scenic River Act of 2025

What it does
- Designates a 34-mile segment of the Myakka River within Sarasota County, Florida as a component of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers System, divided into eight segments with varying classifications (wild, scenic, and recreational).
- Authorizes the Secretary of the Interior to enter into cooperative agreements with the State of Florida, Sarasota County, the cities of North Port and Venice, and local planning and nonprofit organizations to coordinate administration and management of the designated river segments.
- Limits land acquisition authority for Myakka River segments to donation or owner-consented purchases, and prohibits condemnation of any land or interests in land.
- Provides that the existing Myakka River Wild and Scenic Management Plan developed by the Myakka River Management Coordinating Council satisfies the comprehensive management plan requirements under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act.
- Requires the Secretary of the Interior to add a National Park Service representative to the Myakka River Management Coordinating Council and coordinate management responsibilities with the Council for updating and implementing the comprehensive management plan.
