Promoting a Safe Internet for Minors Act

What it does
- Directs the Federal Trade Commission to establish and carry out a public awareness campaign within 180 days to promote safe internet use by minors under 17, in partnership with federal agencies, state and local governments, nonprofits, schools, and law enforcement.
- Requires the Federal Trade Commission to identify and promote best practices for educators, online platforms, minors, and parents to protect minors online.
- Mandates the Federal Trade Commission submit annual reports to Congress for 10 years describing the online safety awareness campaign activities.
- Defines online safety to include protection from cybercrimes, access to narcotics, tobacco, gambling, alcohol and adult content, compulsive online behavior, and use of parental controls and safeguards.
