Strategic Task Force on Scam Prevention Act

What it does
- Direct the Federal Trade Commission and Department of Justice to convene an interagency task force to address scams, with representatives from ten federal agencies including the FBI, Secret Service, FCC, SEC, and others.
- Require the task force to develop and implement a national strategy addressing scams that includes use of the FTC's Consumer Sentinel Network, FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center, public education, industry coordination, enforcement actions, and international partnerships.
- Require the task force to submit a report to Congress and the public no later than one year after enactment describing actions taken to address scams.
- Direct the task force to consult with consumer advocacy organizations, industry sectors including banking, AI applications, cryptocurrency, dating apps, payment platforms, search engines, social media, and communications providers, state attorneys general, and local law enforcement.
