What it does
- Directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to conduct a comprehensive, longitudinal study on the long-term physiological and psychological effects of military aviation on aviators, including G-force exposure and brain health.
- Requires the study to examine the relationship between cumulative flight hours and G-force exposure and incidents of traumatic brain injury, sub-concussive trauma, and cognitive impairment.
- Requires the study to examine long-term mental health outcomes including depression, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and suicide risk in military aviators.
- Directs the Secretary of Veterans Affairs to establish and maintain a centralized Military Aviator Neurohealth Registry with anonymized health data, flight exposure metrics, and health outcomes tracked over time.
- Requires the Secretary to submit an interim report to Congress not later than one year after enactment and a final report not later than three years after enactment.
