Wildfire Risk Evaluation Act

What it does
- Direct the Secretaries of Agriculture, Interior, and Homeland Security to conduct a quadrennial comprehensive review of the wildfire environment, including quantitative analysis of changes to built and natural environments and their impact on pre-fire mitigation, response, and recovery.
- Require the Secretaries to analyze the intersection between wildfire and public health in coordination with the EPA Administrator and HHS Secretary through the CDC.
- Direct the Secretaries to submit a report within 12 months of enactment and every 4 years thereafter to relevant committees, containing review results, anticipated challenges over the following 20 years, and recommendations for Federal legislation and administrative actions.
- Require the Secretaries to evaluate progress toward the three goals of the 2014 National Cohesive Wildland Fire Management Strategy (resilient landscapes, fire-adapted communities, safe and effective wildfire response) and implementation of the 2023 Wildland Fire Mitigation and Management Commission recommendations.
