BRUSH Fires Act

What it does
- Directs the Secretary of Agriculture to conduct a study within one year evaluating the effectiveness of wildfire mitigation methods in shrubland ecosystems, including hazardous fuels management, invasive species control, and native ecosystem restoration.
- Requires the study to assess Forest Service policies on limiting ember ignitions from public and man-made structures, and to identify conditions under which each mitigation method is most and least effective.
- Requires the Secretary to submit a report within 90 days of study completion identifying best practices for land managers, areas needing further research, and opportunities to improve coordination between the Forest Service and non-Federal entities.
- Directs the Secretary to coordinate the study with relevant Forest Service entities, Federal agencies conducting wildfire mitigation, and may solicit consultation from non-Federal public and private entities with wildfire mitigation expertise.
