Sponsor: Andrew R. Garbarino (R-NY)
What it does
- Directs the Secretary of the Interior to establish a voluntary Wildlife Confiscations Network in partnership with a professional accrediting zoological association to assist Federal wildlife law enforcement with placement and care of confiscated animals.
- Requires the Network to establish a cooperative response protocol for confiscated animals, maintain a database of qualified animal care facilities, and serve as a single point of contact for Federal wildlife law enforcement agencies.
- Authorizes wildlife sanctuaries, aquarium facilities, zoological facilities, animal rescue organizations, universities, and nongovernmental organizations to apply for membership in the Network.
- Establishes a committee within the Network to review and approve applications for membership based on credentials, permits, licenses, and capability to assist with placement and care of confiscated animals.
