Automotive National and Economic Security Act of 2026

What it does
- Requires the Secretary of Commerce to conduct a study assessing the engagement of each automotive manufacturer in covered activities with foreign adversaries within 2 years of enactment.
- Directs the Secretary to assess adverse impacts on national security, economic competitiveness, and intellectual property protection resulting from covered activities involving foreign adversaries.
- Requires the Secretary to examine technology transfers relating to critical and emerging technologies to entities controlled by foreign adversaries or state-directed investment vehicles.
- Mandates publication of an unclassified report on the Department of Commerce website, excluding confidential business information and national security-sensitive details, following submission to Congress.
